Wash and Care Instructions
Proper care is essential to preserve the longevity and quality of any type of clothing or textile.
As a natural and eco-friendly material, bamboo benefits from gentle attention to maintain its durability and softness. Thanks to its breathable, moisture-wicking, and odor-resistant properties, we recommend hanging bamboo garments outside to air out odors and keep them fresher between washes.
By following the care and maintenance guidelines below, you can extend the lifespan of your bamboo clothing and textiles—while preserving their softness, comfort, and environmentally friendly qualities.
-
1. Machine wash on a gentle cycle
Wash your bamboo clothing on a gentle cycle in the washing machine. This prevents unnecessary stretching or damage to the fabric. Avoid harsh detergents or bleaches, as these can weaken the fibres and cause discolouration. -
2. Use cold water
Wash bamboo clothing preferably in cold water, as hot water can shrink and distort the fabric, affecting its fit and shape. Wash clothes in hot water at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, cold water is also more energy efficient, which ties in with the eco-friendly nature of bamboo products. -
3. Avoid fabric softeners
Bamboo is an exceptionally soft fabric, so fabric softener is not necessary. Additionally, fabric softener can leave a residue on bamboo fabric, which can reduce its absorbency and breathability. Instead, consider using a gentle, eco-friendly detergent that is specially formulated for delicate fabrics. -
4. Air dry or tumble dry on low
After washing, it is best to air dry your bamboo clothes to maintain their softness and shape. However, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause discoloration, so it is best to dry them in a shaded or well-ventilated area.
If you use a dryer, choose the lowest setting to prevent excessive shrinkage or damage. Avoid over-drying, as this can lead to wrinkling and static electricity. -
5. Iron on low heat if necessary
If you want to iron your bamboo garment, set your iron to a low setting, as too much heat can scorch or burn the fabric. Preferably place a thin cloth or press cloth between the iron and the garment to protect the bamboo fibers. -
6. Store properly
Always store your bamboo clothing in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. This will help prevent discoloration. Do not hang bamboo clothing on sharp hooks or hangers, as these can snag or stretch.
